About Sensible Spender

Hi, I’m Jonathan, a Scottish-based personal finance blogger with an obsession for making every pound work harder.

My interest in this space started years ago when cashback sites first launched. Discovering that you could get the exact same product for less, just by being a little more deliberate about where and how you spent, genuinely changed how I approached money. That moment sparked an ongoing drive to find smarter ways to save without sacrificing quality or convenience.

Since then, I’ve spent years testing loyalty schemes, comparing cashback rates, and digging into the small print so you don’t have to. I’ve shared what I’ve learned with friends and family, who’ve both saved money and, at times, endured my obsession with finding the best deal.

What This Site Is About

Sensible Spender is an independent blog covering UK loyalty schemes, cashback cards, supermarket reward programmes, and everyday spending habits. Every review is based on my own experience and research, no sponsored verdicts, no jargon, just straight answers.

The goal is simple: help you decide whether a loyalty scheme or financial product is actually worth your time, before you commit to it.

What I Cover

The site covers supermarket loyalty schemes, including Tesco Clubcard, Nectar, the Morrisons More Card, Co-op Membership and more, alongside coffee reward schemes from Starbucks, Costa, Black Sheep, McDonald’s McCafé and others. There’s also a regular focus on cashback and credit cards, working out which ones actually give you the most back on everyday spending, and on spending habits more broadly, practical ways to get more value from what you’re already paying for. Alongside all of that, the site has free financial calculators to help you plan savings, work out compound interest, and see what your everyday habits cost over a year.
