The Point A Hotels birthday sale lands on Thursday 5 November, and I would rather you heard about it before it opens than after the best rooms have gone. I have read the teaser page and the email Point A is sending out, so here is what is confirmed, what is not, and what is worth doing today.
What the Point A Hotels birthday sale includes
The headline terms come from the sale page itself. The offer is billed as breakfast and a drink on the house, plus up to 30% off for members of their free A List scheme.
| Detail | What they say |
|---|---|
| Discount | Up to 30% off for A List members |
| Extras | Breakfast and a drink included |
| Sale launches | Thursday 5 November 2026 |
| Book by | Thursday 3 December 2026 |
| Stay dates | 7 November 2026 to 3 December 2027 |
| Hotels | 12 in total: 7 in London, 3 in Scotland, 2 in Dublin |
The email adds one useful detail. A List members get early access on launch day, which suggests the best of the sale could be member first.
What I cannot tell you yet
The page is still a teaser, so the small print is missing. That small print is exactly what decides whether this is a proper bargain or just a nice headline.
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Does the 30% stack with the usual 10% member discount? | It changes the real saving |
| Are rates flexible or non-refundable? | A cheap rate you cannot change is a gamble |
| Which dates and hotels get the full 30%? | “Up to” can mean very little on a busy weekend |
| Are there blackout dates? | Christmas and big event weekends are the usual casualties |
Until those are answered, treat the 30% as the best case, not the typical case. I went through the same questions on the Premier Inn 20% off deal, which covers the same refundable versus non-refundable question.
Why I would join the A List today
Membership is free, so there is nothing to lose by signing up to the A List before Thursday. Point A says members get 10% off every booking, and the Point A Hotels birthday sale is aimed at members, with early access on the day. If you think you might book anything in the next year, being signed in and ready when it opens is the sensible move. If you want to know what the rooms are actually like first, I have written up my own stays at Point A.
What this means if you are in Scotland
Point A has three hotels north of the border: Glasgow, Edinburgh Haymarket and Edinburgh St Andrew Square. Edinburgh in particular gets expensive fast around Hogmanay and the festival season, so these are the dates I will be checking first when the sale opens. If you are heading to London instead, my Tower of London weekend costings show what the other budget chains charge for comparison, and my Travelodge and Premier Inn breakfast comparison covers the breakfast side.
What I will do next
On Thursday I will come back to this post and check real prices across the Scottish hotels, comparing the sale rate with the normal member rate so you can see the actual saving rather than the advertised one. I will update this page with what I find, including anything in the terms that catches people out.
Update, 5 November: Sale now live. Prices and terms to follow here.
The golden rule
A percentage off is only a bargain if the starting price was fair, so always compare the sale rate with the normal rate before you click book.
