Co-op Costa Express Deal: £1 Coffee on the Last Two Fridays in October

Co-op Costa Express deal £1 coffee

I’m maybe a little late to the party with this one, but where there is £1 coffee on offer it always seems kind to share. The Co-op Costa Express deal is still running, and there are two Fridays left to take advantage of it. So how do you get it, I hear you ask.

For the whole of October, Co-op is selling drinks from its Costa Express machines for just £1 every Friday. Do note that this is machine coffee, so if you don’t like the taste of the Costa machine then this one is not for you. I must admit I’m not the biggest fan of machine coffee at full price, but if it’s part of a sale, or a meal deal at Tesco, I’m often tempted.

How the Co-op Costa Express deal works

Simple. Get yourself down to a Co-op on one of the remaining Fridays, which are 23 and 30 October, pick your drink and pay £1. According to Co-op’s own press release, the deal runs on Fridays from 2 to 30 October and covers standard drinks, including coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Syrups are included too.

There are over 40 hot and cold drinks to choose from, including Americanos, Lattes, Cappuccinos and Flat Whites. Normally these cost between £2.40 and £4.15, so the saving is real, and Co-op says it can be up to 76% on a drink like a chai latte with syrup.

What’s the catch

Not every Co-op has a machine. The Co-op Costa Express deal only applies in stores with a Costa Express machine, which Co-op puts at around 1,694 of its 2,300 shops, so use the store finder before you set off. Large cups are excluded, it is available while stocks last, and I would not leave it until the last Friday if you want to be sure of a drink.

Is it worth it

It won’t save you millions, but every little helps, especially with the free coffee deal from McDonald’s having recently ended for everyone. If you already pass a Co-op on a Friday, a £1 coffee is an easy win. I would not change your route to get one, though, and if you want to see what your own coffee habit really costs across a year, my coffee cost calculator is worth five minutes.

Sensible Spender verdict

Worth it if you like machine coffee and pass a Co-op with a Costa Express machine on a Friday.

If you are already shopping at Co-op, I have also looked at whether its membership rewards scheme is worth joining, and how the Costa Coffee Club stacks up. The McDonald’s free coffee deal is also worth a read if you missed it.

The Co-op Fridays have now finished, but Costa Express has a new offer running, with selected drinks at £1.99 until Sunday 8 November.
